Pros and Cons of Toriko

Toriko is basically the anime and manga about food and how it is a necessity for all life. Now I know you're thinking "of course you need food to live" but this food gives you super powers. What I mean is that if you inject yourself with Gourmet cells and you eat the food of the Toriko world then you would develop super human strength. This is mostly why there is mostly men and they all have big muscles. Enough of this, I'll get to the pros and cons.

Cons:
One on of the series is that it is basically full of men. This factor turns a lot of viewers away especially men because well, you don't to watch all men and no woman. You start to think of suspect type thoughts. There are woman like Sani's sister Rin. She's one of the very few main character females. All the other main females are old as hell. They're epic as hell but there old as fuck. Some moments between Toriko and his chef partner Komatsu are a bit too mushy for them to be just pals. There reason for this is because the moments that they have they're two guys and they'll staring into each others eyes or crying in each others arms. The two characters aren't gay and they have a brotherly relationship but it seems like the author is pushing towards something else. That's fine, just get there.

Another con is that its all about food. People love talking and enjoying food but when they get a manga about it they call it dumb. They may be fighting for food but the food itself gives them even more power once eaten. If there was a donut that would give me the power of invisibility so I could lurk without being seen, I would kill for it. Now I can't fully explain the laws and functions of Toriko without summarizing every arc in the manga.

Pros:
Great Storyline
The storyline is fucking amazing. If you though Oda was a great author than there is another in Mitsutoshi. And it helps that both of them are close friends.  Nothing in Toriko is predictable. You never see anything coming and its always a surprise. One thing about Toriko is that Mitsutoshi explains things that are complicated. For instance he explains that the Cooking Island is the size of a small Island such a Cuba and Hawaii,  and that many of the fighters are easily able to destroy it. Some of the characters are Setsuno, Zebra, and the great Knocking Master Jirou that stopped the planet with one finger. He also sent a wolf punch to space that had stopped time.  Like I said the plot is always rich and it is never flawless.

Solid Characters
These characters are solid and all them have unique stories and abilities.  Jirou has the ability to stop any moving object. Living things are no exception. Midora can control matter and Ichiryuu can control matter in the human body.  I won't go too in depth.  All 3 of these are older than 500 years old. I won't go on about that either. When you see the Toriko characters than you know shit is about to go down. No character is dull and none of them make you go "This nigga". All is well with the Toriko characters.

Artwork
The artwork in Toriko is just amazing. Just look at the texture of Toriko's face when he's starving and has no food at all. Look at the Bubble Fruit as it glistens. This is only a taste of Mitsutoshi at full power. This isn't even his final form. There is more of this used in fights and even the exaggerated faces. You'll know what I mean if you look up Livebearer. He's one ugly mofo.

Fights
The fights are  badass. These characters go at it until one is standing or the other is eaten. Yes they do eat each other in Toriko if the person is worthy of being eaten. But like I said, these guys go all out. Starjun had a fist the size of his stomach put through him and he got back up as if he was just casually patted. Toriko got his arm blown off and was still sending a fury of punches TommyRod's way. Zebra gave this one dude a barrage of scars all throughout his body and the dude is still carrying out his Yakuza duty. I'm going to stop because I'm spoiling too much.

Overall, I suggest you read Toriko. It has many rises and no downfalls. A stunning manga from start to finish.
