Jump Force: My Thoughts

I saw a new gaming trailer recently for the upcoming crossover fighting game between the characters of Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, One Piece, and Death Note called Jump Force.

The official release of this trailer recently is absolutely no coincidence as this year marks the 50th anniversary of one the longest magazines in Japan called Shōnen Jump Magazine.

The Super Smash Bros. series has been dominating the crossover fighting game scene now for over a decade featuring popular Nintendo characters like Mario, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Bowser, and Pikachu with special guest appearances from Goku, Ryu, and Bayonetta.

And while other crossover fighting games like Marvel vs Capcom 3 and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale have had a decent amount of success over the years, neither one of those crossover fighting games were able to come close to Super Smash Bros in terms of a real crossover fighting game competitor and popularity.

In the beginning of the trailer, I get to see some facial statues of previous Kohona Hokages in what appears to be a very snowy area, then it fades to a scene that looks like it’s in a city of high rises and skyscrapers at night with what appears to be a broken down Straw Hat ship. Then it cuts to another scene where in a grassy plains area, I see the iconic Frieza’s spaceship from Dragon Ball Z just sitting there abandoned.

And then the trailer cuts to a scene of a destroyed city where we first see Naruto and Luffy standing in different areas of the city while Goku walks around the destroyed city looking for a challenge and then we get to see Final Form Frieza powering up from his iconic pose from The Resurrection F Arc and starts causing destruction and mayhem in the city with his most iconic attack in The Death Beam and then he sees Naruto from a nearby rooftop using The Shadow Clone Jutsu technique and charging at him. Then Luffy is seen using his long arms and doing some Spider-Man webslinging stuff going towards the area of the fight between Frieza and Naruto. Then Goku immediately powers up to the iconic golden haired Super Saiyan form ready to fight. The only part about this trailer that I personally didn’t like was how they used Frieza as a punching bag for not only Luffy and Naruto, but especially Goku. Frieza is absolutely no one’s punching bag. Then it cuts to the fighting gameplay mechanics which look amazingly sick with the amazing background stage designs that makes the trailer so badass because I have not been truly excited for a crossover fighting game since Marvel vs Capcom 3 came out back in 2010.

The Conclusion - It looks like Super Smash Bros. is gonna be in for a real crossover fight against a legitimate cross fighting game competitor in Jump Force that could possibly overtake the game in terms of popularity and being the #1 crossover fighting game.
