I hadn't heard anything about Kin being on anyone's radar. But, I'm all for it after watching the trailer. They had me at giant alien guns and soldiers. It's based on a short film called Big Man written and directed from the same duo of Josh and Johnathan Baker. It seems to be my kind of sci-fi and I'm ready.
