At some point in time you've checked out One-Punch Man, whether it be the manga, anime or maybe a clip or panel online. There is a lot to the series that is deemed so simple and goofy. If you're like me, maybe you've been tired of Anime and Manga lately and just can't get into any series. Though the first couple of chapters of the series come off as a comedy, there is much more to it than that.
I never expected to love the series this much. When I read the chapters or watch clips from the anime, I genuinely feel warm when I consume its content. I have some of the volume and can't wait to buy the rest. Lately Anime and Manga have been boring me but every now and then a series comes along and makes me want to read everything again.
I think the reason people love the series so much is because of how real it feels. One Punch Man doesn't delve too deep into certain themes besides what's right and wrong but every character has a reason for being a hero, villain or monster. Of course you have some people who do it for fun but most have reasons that propel them to commit crimes or save humans. Saitama is my favorite character who always comes off as a nonchalant guy whose a hero by chance. Saitama is the most regular person of all time. He's only a hero because he gets paid. He loves video games and lives a regular life.
Like Saitama most of the other characters, no matter how strong they are, never loose touch of their normal life. They may be heroes but that never takes away from their regular life. The characters are so well written that you like most of them, even Garou, who has recently become my second favorite. He's the anti hero who started off beating heroes but now we enjoy the character so much that we're willingly to forget he put the entire Tank Top Clan in the hospital.
When I read OPM I feel good. The characters make me laugh, the art is dope and the fights are always interesting. I've never felt bored reading and besides villains being villains, I don't hate a character. The story is cool and ever getting deeper into how strong a human can be or how strong is a human's desire to get stronger by any means? OPM is a genuine series that's easy to love from the jump. Not many series do that these days and that's why I love it so much.
