Black Superhero: Aegis

Trey Rollins was just a normal teenager from Brooklyn who enjoyed the internet a lot. Social media, blogging, youtube and so on, he loved all of that. One day that changed when he stumbled upon the Breastplate of Aegis. Trey had been on his way home from school when he heard strange noises coming from an abandoned building. Inside he found the Breastplate of Aegis that had been blessed by Athena and used to defeat Medusa. Feeling inspired he put together a costume of his own designed around Greek history. Trey didn't seek to become the greatest hero in the world, but simply to clean up his own neighborhood. Soon he was taking out the drug dealers in gang members in his neighborhood while running a blog that detailed his adventures. He soon gained a reputation as one of the only heroes to care about the under-privileged areas of the world. Graffiti was being put up in the area by a duo named Lester and Peyton who viewed him as a hero for the hood.

When Nova was taken out by Blaastar, Trey was given the opportunity to join The New Warriors. This version of the team was made up of former members from the original incarnation. Initially he clashed with the team due to disagreeing how they should handle Blaastar. Trey wanted to simply kill him and call it a day but The New Warriors who were more traditional heroes refused because they thought it would be unheroic. Eventually they managed to convince him that killing Blaastar would be the wrong course of action. Additionally, they continued to distrust Trey because he was the only one with a secret identity and even kept it secret from the team.

During a gang fight between The New Warriors and a gang in Trey's neighborhood he abandoned the team. He didn't do it because he disliked them, he did it to save an old friend James who had joined a gang called Lobo's Boys They were going to leave James behind but Trey refused because James had once saved him during a drive-by shooting.  Because of this the team blamed him for Bolt getting injured. Trey once again came into conflict with them because although Bolt was injured they were going to leave his friend to die.

Eventually Hercules became aware of Trey's actions. He kidnapped him and dragged him to Mt. Olympus. He stated that Trey had stolen the Breastplate of Aegis and needed to be punished for his actions. However Athena revealed that it was indeed meant for Trey to find. She named him a new champion and named Hercules as his mentor. Although they clashed initially they grew to care about each other through their adventures.

Trey took a break from heroics to focus on his grades, hoping to get into a good college after he graduated. Yet, he was soon pulled back into action. During Civil War Trey was apprehended by Tony Stark and SHIELD for refusing to register as a hero. He was captured because he continued to take care of his neighborhood and resumed his blog as a way of resistance. He was rescued by Multiple Man. Afterwards Trey went back to working in his neighborhood and blogging to show that he still cared about the people.

One day he entered the abandoned building he had been using as a base where he was attacked by Huntsman who had recently betrayed Zeus for Hera. Huntsman claimed that Athena had abandoned Trey. When Huntsman attacked, knowing he couldn't win Trey jumped out of the window. He expected the breastplate to break his fall, as it had done dozens of times before. Yet, Hera had managed to render it useless and Trey simply fell to his death.
