Poem: Dreaming I Was Dreaming - Garser Dismuke

Dreaming I Was Dreaming

The cool night breathes on the pores of our skin
The breeze of the night creates a sense of smell that makes us feel at ease
We both smile as we hold each other’s hand
You smile at me with your cute lips
Your eyes are sparkling like the night sky
We walk carelessly down the damp street to who knows where
Laughter and joy is abundant in our face and sung from our mouths
Time slowly goes by as if the world has stopped for the both of us
It seems as if nothing can break our spirits
We love each other and nothing can stop that
Yet this is not the case
I am dreaming
I dreamt of a world where we were together
A world where we could laugh, play, and snuggle without hassle

I was dreaming and I hate the fact that I was
I was filled with such vibrant emotions that were actually lles
The ability to touch your face and smell you hair was just an illusion
In reality I would not be able to do that
In reality You won’t look at me again
We used to talk and even have cute nicknames for each other
It was never official but we were a couple even though we weren’t
I love our nicknames
I wish we would still go by those
Not being with you has left me in a coma
Sleeping is not on my mind and there is no food in my stomach
Dressing myself is also out of the question
My body will not function right knowing that we will never talk again
I actually pray for sleep for with it I will be able to dream
And in said dream I will meet you again
