The Prowler
Aaron and Jefferson Davis grew up in a rough neighborhood and to make things worse, they were poor. There weren't many options available to them so they did what was necessary to survive. Eventually they worked together to become burglars and they were good at it. However after one burglary went wrong both Aaron and Jefferson were arrested. After a brief stint in jail Jefferson went on to start a family. Meanwhile, Aaron went solo and became known as The Prowler, one of the world's best thieves.
However when Jefferson and his wife Rio Morales had their son Miles, the relationship became strained. Jefferson wished that Aaron would stay away and not lead Miles down the path to crime. However Aaron was stuck between wanting to be part of the family and looking for a new partner in crime. Yes, he was plotting for Miles to join him as a criminal from the first day he was born. However when Miles was older Rio allowed Aaron to occasionally see Miles hoping that one day Aaron would change his life as well.
However, Aaron doesn't believe a man can change who he is, but then again Aaron had some twisted views on what manhood meant. Aaron didn't just work for criminals. Roxxon industries hired him to break into a decommissioned Oscorp facility to steal projects that had been canceled. While the job went well Aaron failed to notice the spider that crawled into his bag. The spider was carrying a stronger mutated form of the Oz Formula that had been enhanced with the spider formula that gave Peter Parker his powers.
While Miles was visiting Aaron the spider made itself known to the world. It bit Miles causing him to have a seizure. Aaron freaked out and called Miles' dad which strained their relationship more because Jefferson was unaware of the visits. Miles goes about his life and Jefferson continues his work.
Aaron goes to Mexico in an attempt to settled a debt with a mobster called The Scorpion. However his equipment malfunctions during a fight. He barely manages to escape Scorpion and his goons. However, due to injuries he is easily arrested and imprisoned for several weeks until he can escape. Once back in New York he blames The Tinkerer for the malfunctioning equipment and threatens him with death.
During this time Peter had died and a new Spider-Man had appeared. Tinkerer and Aaron talked about how the media claimed a spider gave Peter his powers. It's during this time that Aaron figured out Miles was the new Spider-Man and could be used to build a criminal empire. It's at this point that Aaron killed The Tinkerer and took equipment meant for other villains to make his Prowler suit better.
It's at this point Aaron began blackmailing Miles to help him take out Scorpion's operation which had moved to New York. When Miles questioned him Aaron tried to tell him being a man was about getting what you want by any means necessary which didn't really sit well with Miles. However Miles had no choice but to continue helping him.
When Scorpion was beaten Aaron had a small section of the organized crime scene carved out for himself. Yet he wanted Miles to keep working with him by taking out other mob families and gangs but never Aaron's. At this point Miles could no longer work with him and they had several showdowns. In the first Miles was beaten but told Aaron he wouldn't turn him into the police if he just left New York and never contacted the family again.
In their next meeting Miles was once again beaten by Aaron. However when one of Aaron's gauntlets designed for The Shocker malfunctioned it blew up in Aaron's face knocking him unconscious. Before he passed out he told Miles that he was no different than himself in the end. Miles had beaten Aaron to get what he wanted, the same thing Aaron had done to Scorpion, Tinkerer and others before them. Miles went home and cried, blaming himself while Jefferson blaming Spider-Man only made it worse. Aarond died several days later in the hospital from his injuries.
