Black Panther: Shuri
Black Panther isn't one person. In fact the name is actually just The Panther. But, you know, once you leave Africa they automatically put black on it so they can let everyone know. The title of Panther skipped Shuri. Her older brother T'Challa claimed the title and the throne of Wakanda for himself before she had the opportunity. For years she held some animosity towards T'Challa despite knowing it wasn't his fault. She had a fair chance but her mother forbid her when the opportunity came. Despite that she does have all the same training T'Challa does. Her only weakness is lack of experience.
After the death of their father both T'Challa and Shuri dedicated themselves to training and succeeding their uncle as Black Panther (Neither was old enough to take over for their dad). T'Challa went to America to continue training in several styles. Shuri stayed in Wakanda with a growing hatred for outsiders. While Shuri was dedicated to becoming The Panther her mother wanted her to be more lady like. For the record, Wakanda doesn't really struggle with the whole "Make daddy a sandwich" sexism thing. It's equal footing. There had been Queens who acted as The Panther in the past. This was just her mother. Her mother was one of the women who would say things like "I don't think women really need to vote, it's just so confusing." Luckily nobody else in Wakanda was with that and they all backed Shuri as well as T'Challa. Despite her mother's wishes she trained hard in anticipation of her chance to claim the throne and the Panther mantle.
The role of Panther is chose when you can defeat the previous Panther. On the day of that competition Shur's mother managed to keep her in the dark and lock her in her room. By the time Shuri escaped the room she reached the tournament in time to see the winner unmasking himself as T'Challa. Part of her was glad it was her brother but part of her hated him for winning what she felt was hers. This is their relationship. She loves her brother, but she also hates him for taking the spot of Panther which she viewed as hers. Instead of staying she quickly left Wakanda and studied nuclear physics for 2 years.
When she returned Wakanda was being attacked by Klaw, Rhino, Batroc and the racist Black Knight. (Ironic) T'Challa was holding his own and demanded she get to safety. Instead Shuri took a team of scientist to investigate why the vibranium was acting strange. She found a secret 5th member, Radioactive Man (not the simpsons). Radioactive man killed all of the scientist who sacrificed themselves to keep Shuri for fighting him. Shuri still ended up fighting Radioactive Man. Radioactive Man became the first person that Shuri ever killed.
This haunted her so she went to New York and brought shame to the family. We're talking Brittany Spears shave her head bald get out the car with no underwear shame. But, she was from the royal family of Wakanda so nobody could stop her. Until T'Challa opened a tabloid and went to New York and promised to help her. She cried a little and T'Challa sent her home. The comfort of home calms her and she's back to the confident Shuri we all know.
When T'Challa strolls home with Storm and says "We're getting married." Shuri is not very happy. Shuri doesn't initially like Storm but they quickly grow to be good friends. Bonding over the fact that T'Challa is a know it all and secretly enjoys being in the spotlight.
The United States places warships near Wakanda Shuri felt it was her duty to infiltrate and learn their plans. Shuri was captured by Erik Killmonger. He chained her to the wall in the basement of the ship then released the prisoners and told them they could do anything they wanted to her. T'Challa's bodyguard Zuri was the first to hear and rushed in to save her. By the time he got there Shuri had already freed herself and killed everyone on the ship.
During his battles with Dr. Doom T'Challa is outsmarted for the first time in his life, this left him severely injured, in a coma and close to death. This meant Shuri had to become The Panther. It wasn't the way she wanted it but she accepted. However her mother thought she wasn't ready and tried to get Storm to take the role of Panther. Storm of course encouraged Shuri. When Shuri undergoes the trials to become the next Black Panther she succeeds all of the mental and physical tests. However when she meets The Panther God and asks for it's blessing she is rejected for being too arrogant. She returns from the spirit world shocked that she was rejected.
Morlun attacks Wakanda and Shuri is left without the Panther Spirit's blessing. She couldn't allow Wakanda to face any more danger so she put on her custom made suit that she had been working on for ever and went to work. She managed to hold Morlun off long enough for him to be transported back to the spirit world but wasn't able to actually defeat him. This humbled her and the Panther spirit finally abandoned T'Challa and accepted her.
Shuri leaves Wakanda and searches for who attacked T'Challa and let's the world know that she's the new Black Panther. After a meeting with President Obama and Everette K. Ross her car is attacked by a group of rogue Wakandan's that don't approve of her. She investigated them and got a confession out of a suicide bomber. The group was called The Desturi. This leads her to Namor. Shuri starts a fight with Namor in the middle of the ocean because sometimes shit goes down when it's a trillion dollars on a boat. The Fantastic 4 appeared and stopped the battle so that they could take on the superhumans that had been gathered by The Declun. When it was over, Dr. Doom had allied with the Desturi. Meanwhile Shuri just laughs because T'Challa had woken up a while ago and planned this all. Every enemy of Wakanda was now known and that meant it was game time.
Shuri and T'Challa head to Utopia to recruit the X-Men in rescuing Storm who had been captured while T'Challa was out. Shuri, T'Challa, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Colossus make short work of Dr. Doom's goons. However it got a little awkward because Shuri killed all her enemies and enjoyed it. So did Wolverine, but he told her to check her anger. Really? Shuri shrugged him off, rightfully so because Wolverine is throwing stones in a glass house.
Storm was rescued and the group decided how to deal with Dr. Doom. The X-Men didn't like the plan so they went back to Utopia. Except Storm because she rides with her family. The three of them recruit the Fantastic 4 to help them out since Dr. Doom had stole their vibranium while they were gone. Shuri was put in charge of her own team. They were making easy work of Doom, until he activated his vibranium war suit. Shuri passed out and had to be saved. When She awoke she learned where Dr. Doom was getting his money and took it all. Meaning he could no longer finance a war with Wakanda.
Shuri returned from her trillion dollar robbery in time to join Storm and War Machine in a battle against Doom. She tried to convince T'Challa that he should just end it. However he pulled that king rank (remember this) and told her stay in a princess' place. T'Challa sent Deadpool and his team into Latveria. Shuri waited around the border with the army for T'Challa to drag doom out to show the world their victory.
Shuri returned to Wakanda. She decides that to restore Wakanda's economic glory she needed to travel to the Savage Lands and make some trades. Shuri discovers A.I.M. attempting to destroy The Savage Land. Shuri's blood lust becomes harder to control due to her time in The Savage Land. Shuri tries to take out A.I.M. but is stopped by Klaw. Storm calls in calls Wolverine to join them because he knows a thing or nothing about anger management. Shuri was not feeling this. The group captures some smugglers and interrogates them to learn where Klaw is. Shuri isn't with the anger management and heads to New York to stop Klaw. She tried to get The Avengers to help but they didn't. (What is with The Avengers not helping black people) Instead she gets help from Black Widow and Spider-Man. They lecture her about Anger Management. I cans see Spider-Man but Black Widow.
The group manages to stop Klaw. Spider-Man was the only one in this adventure that didn't have anger issues and he actually helped Shuri control hers. Shuri decides to stick around in New York for a while and joins T'Chall in Hell's Kitchen while he takes down Kingpin. She then returns to Wakanda as a princess while T'Challa work on that whole marriage thing.
When Wakanda is being attacked by dead soldiers the Fantastic 4 come to help because T'Challa thinks Reed Richards is the only person as smart as his. Johnny and Ben take on the dead soldiers. T'Challa and Reed head underground to Necropolis, Wakanda's City of The Dead. Shuri, Storm and Sue Richards eat a fruit that sends them on some kind of acid trip. They go to the spirit world and take on Anubis. A Panther Spirit named Bast makes T'Challa King of The Dead. This makes Shuri Queen of Wakanda.
When the Avengers and the X-Men go to war Storm sides with the X-Men by throwing her wedding ring at T'Challa publicly. Before T'Challa can call Wakanda and say "I'm moving back home," Queen Shuri had annulled the marriage because Storm chose her friends over her family and the citizens of Wakanda that she ruled. They made sure to annul the marriage instead of a regular divorce so Storm could get nothing. Shuri then made the X-Men wanted outlaws of Wakanda and placed bounties on their heads because you don't mess with her big brother.
Shuri then reactivates the Hatut Zeraze. The Hatut Zeraze were a group of elite soldiers that reported directly to the King or Queen of Wakanda. She then opens the Wakandan School for Alternative Studies. A school to train soldiers. Her three favorites are Asha (Controls light and turns invisible) Bull (Agility, strength, sight etc. of a lion) and Blocks (Channels kinetic energy).
When Namor attacks Wakanda with a tsunami to flush out the Avengers, Shuri declares war on Atlantis. T'Challa told her declaring war on Atlantis was unnecessary because he was going to handle Namor. Shuri told T'Challa stay in his place as ruler of Necropolis and let The Queen of Wakanda handle her business. (Did you remember it) Wakanda destroys Atlantis. The city is left empty with all of the civilians fleeing to other cities. T'Challa did in fact handle Namor so that's the end of the Atlantean dynasty. When Thanos attacks Wakanda, Shuri's increased military might proves to be a good preparation because the country was saved.
