Black Superhero: Firestorm

Firestorm : Jason Rusch

I prefer computer games, crew--But I think I can manage to shuffle this deck!

Jason is actually the second...third.... fourth, seventh, twelfth, first Firestorm. Let me explain. Firestorm isn't necessarily a person but a matrix of immense energy known as the Firestorm Matrix. Initially it was fused with a man named Ronny Raymond. It eventually absorbed a few other people into the mix. before Ronny died. That's where our story starts *Raises Curtain*

Jason has a sad life. Jason lived in Detroit and if you've ever been there it's not much to look at and has really gone down hill over the last decade. But that wasn't Jason's only problem. Jason's father lost his hand in factory accident. This lead him to become abusive to Jason and his mother. His mother eventually left. Jason was left to himself and his father's abusive ways. Jason only wanted one thing and that was to escape. As Gill Scott Hering told us all "Home is where the hatred is and it might not be such a bad idea if I never went home again"

Jason needed money for college. Don't we all? Jason got a job as a delivery boy. Eventually he came across Ronnie fighting The Shadow Thief. Ronnie got that work. He got a sword straight through the chest. The Firestorm Matrix quickly searched for a new host. Jason happened to be near. More struggle for Jason followed. Jason actually killed the man who hired him for the job. It wasn't on purpose. When powers suddenly show up and you have no control over them things like that happen.

Did I mention he was struggling. Supervillains he had nothing to do with started attacking him wanting revenge against Ronnie. Eventually Jason was going to fuse with another person similar to how Ronnie had. But part of Ronnie's mind remained within the Firestorm Matrix and he urged against making the same mistake he did. Ronnie stuck around for a while as a mentor to Jason. *Cough* White Savior Syndrome *Cough*

Eventually he was recruited by Wonder Girl for an outer space mission. The rest is history because you're hooked into his story. Now you have to buy comics and fund more of his adventures. See how I did that. I was hoping to see Firestorm in the 3rd season of Young Justice but we all know how that went. Fuck Stuart Snyder.

Jason is pretty awesome. He's overcome adversary in his life. I didn't mention but at one point he fused with his best friend but it's okay they figured out how to separate. I'm also pretty sure Hot Spot from Teen Titans was just a Firestorm clone. Same powers, black teenagers must I continue. I'm actually a little disappointed Firestorm isn't featured consistently in the DC Universe. But I can't even play the race card because Ronnie was featured even less. But to be fair Ronnie was an asshole and was nowhere near as popular as Jason.

I know it's a comic book but Jason should be an example to our black youth. Jason had a shitty life but he still managed to overcome. I know what you're saying "But he has superpowers" Well you're wrong. Jason was still managing to work hard and pay his way through college before the superpowers. We need to copy that same work ethic and drive to succeed no matter what challenges we face.

Abilities and Equipment

  • Energy absorption: What it sounds like.
  • Energy Projection: The opposite of energy absorption.
  • Eidetc Memory: Jason can access the memory of every previous Firestorm.
  • X-Ray Vision: He's a 18 year old male. What do you think he does with this?
  • Thermal Vision: Look for heat sources.
  • Flight: I can't fly.
  • Phasing: He can phase through objects.
  • Floating Heads: Previous users who aren't dead have a psychic link they appear as floating heads. They can appear any way they want but the default is floating head.
  • Super Human Strength & Durability: I've got that.
  • Regeneration: Hypothetically Jason should be able to regenerate lost limbs but it's untested.
  • Shape Shifting: Also untested but possible.

Hey, I write stuff, a lot of different stuff, that's all.
