Strawberry 100% Volume 9 Review: The Tsukasa Show

Chapters 72-80

This entire volume was filled with Tsukasa and Junpei love moments. I love but there are some things wrong with it as well, but we'll get to that later. The volue starts where we left off last volume where Junpei and Yui took the wrong train in the middle of Yui being Yui. Fortunately they end up at the same Inn that Junpei and he gang went to that time for the first movie. Actually it was different Inn, but the same old owner. Things happen and they end up sleeping in the same bed together before they rush back home when her father "suddenly" passes out. He lied. Yui's father is low scum bag dictator. He even slapped the life force out of Junpei. seriously, I get that he was tired but damn. Junpei passed out from a slap and was out for 12 hours. This man can never win. After the commotion Yui's dad decides that she can stay with Junpei but she wants to live by herself. That works itself out and we transition to other stuff.

But before that I want to talk about the mood that was established. The entire time Junpei an dYui were on their adventure, I got the sense that maybe they will take each other's virginity. The mood that was created was one that kept me enticed with the story. The fact that it was ruined so soon made me hate Yui's father more. The only thing I didn't like about this story arc was the bath scene. We have seen way too many bath scenes. Moving on to other things, the movie theater owner is way too creepy.

So Tsukasa invites Junpei over to taste her cake. Not that cake but the cake she mad in an oven. things are going okay until she starts talking about the Pastry Shop Owner's grandson who is so famous, handsome, kind, and a master chef who treats her right. Junpei and I are both threatened by this. I honestly thought that she was falling in love with him and moving on from Junpei like I originally wanted her to but the way things were going, I wanted them to get together. I was conflicted on whether I wanted her to move on or stay by Junpei's side. Ultimately she doesn't care for Higure and is still in love with Junpei. Junpei's still a hoe for running after he saw them "hug".

Satsuki has become an after thought to Tsukasa. Aya has to but Aya is in second place while Satsuki is 5th. Her attempt at getting with Junpei with the concert tickets almost worked if it wasn't for Aya asking him to come over for a BBQ and it was also Tsukasa's birthday who he had promised to spend with her. Yui almost slid in there as well. So a birthday party is thrown for Tsukasa with the club but of course there is a twist. This would not have been Strawberry 100% without Sotomura being himself. The shooting of the promotional video must happen while the girls are in Charlie's Angels themed clothing. Long story short Tsukasa's birthday party is ruined when the place nearly blows up.

Junpei did promise to spend the day with her and it was the day before her birthday so he, after the persuasian from Tsukasa, decide to spend the night together. Tsukasa takes him to their middle school where they reminisce about the good ole times. Seeing the monkey bars reminds them of the day Junpei first asked her out. Who knew there was a story behind Tsukasa's yes. Back in the day Junpei used to actually be cool and that's when her crush on Junpei started. So it wasn't fools gold. Tsukasa was originally going to ask him out at some point good for him even though he still takes L's to this day..

The last stop on the tour is at the nurses office I am assuming with their being beds. Tsukasa really wants to give it up for Junpei. That feeling I got for Yui at the beginning of this volume came back. I truly think that Junpei might actually go for it. Whether things work out or not, I think he will not back away. Especially after he tried to kiss her back when the building almost exploded. This is very interesting. The next volume is sure to be good. I hope Junpei takes this and the story goes in a different direction than all other harem series. But I'll have to wait until next week to know.
