Bulletproof: Zandale Randolph
Zandale Randolph is a strange name. It's one of those Key and Peele football player names. Zandale was born with a twin brother named Tyrone for the double dose of "black names." Tyrone loved science and was extremely focused. Tyrone eventually became a geneticist. He was obsessed with one thing. That was getting super powers. I can't really blame him, super powers are, well super. Zandale however decided that he wanted nothing more than to be an artist. He never paid much attention in class but did just enough to get by. This led to Zandale being the black sheep of the family and Tyrone being loved and admired. Eventually tyrone won a Nobel Prize for some of his work but wasn't satisfied with that. He still wanted Super Powers.
Tyrone came up with a formula that would give him super powers. But, like every scientist he needed someone to test in on first. So he invited Zandale over for a brotherly dinner. He pulled a Bill Cosby (Because we all know he did it) and slipped something in Zandale's drink. Tyrone took Zandale back to his lab and strapped him down. Zandale woke up and Tyrone explained the whole thing to him. Tyrone proceeded to test his experiment on Zandale. The lab blew up but Zandale was gifted the ability to absorb and store kinetic energy until he needed to use it for superpowers. This renders him Bulletproof. I didn't write that joke, it was in the comic. Tyrone can manifest the kinetic energy as a speed or strength boost as well as flight.
Tyrone died in the explosion because he wasn't gifted the invulnerability that Zandale was. Here's the touching part. Tyrone was basically evil and he died essentially torturing Zandale by forcing experiments on him. What did Zandale do? He continued being slacker artist Zandale but also visited his parents ass world renowned scientist Tyrone. They didn't think anything of it. He told his parents that Tyrone had become the superhero Bulletproof and that's why he was too busy to see them as often. He's a goof brother because I'd tell them Tyrone was crazy and drugged me. They'd just have to deal with the heart break that the black sheep was the one that wasn't crazy.
As a hero Bulletproof tried out for New Guardians of the Globe. He stood out as a skilled applicant but still didn't make the team. Eventually the team was doing so bad that they had to add Bulletproof anyway. On one mission Bulletproof and several others were forced to rush in and save Immortal who frequently went on rogue solo missions. This left Bulletproof out of commission with injuries for three weeks. While out injured he made sure to let the team know that he doesn't approve of the way Immortal leads the team.
After some globe trotting heroics and cosplaying as his twin brother Bulletproof becomes good friends with Invincible. At some point Invincible falls ill and Bulletproof takes the name and costume. He did this for friendship and he liked Invincible's costume more than his own. But eventually this comes to end because he decides to make a move on Invincible's wife. She rejects him and kicks him out of their house.
