Why All Elite Wrestling Is In A Way The Reincarnation Of WCW

The very first wrestling show that I actually watched for the very first time when I was 12 years old in 1998 was called “WCW Monday Nitro” and when I saw the main event, I immediately fell in love with WCW because it was at that time at its peak as a major wrestling promotion from the south given the fact that I am from and is still currently living in the south. I also feel that southern fans are much more passionate about sports including wrestling than their northern counterparts based on my personal experiences being around sports fans. I was such a big WCW guy back in the day that I refused to flip the channel and watch anything that was WWE very much at that time until 2001 when WCW officially closed its doors.

One of the main things that WCW did back in the 1990s especially during its peak years was that they got many new fans like myself to watch their product and I remember some of the conversations I had with some of my old classmates during my 6th grade elementary school days were about what we saw on “Monday Nitro” and which wrestlers we were fans of.

Another thing about WCW that I liked was the fact that unlike WWE Monday Night Raw, if you missed an episode of WCW Monday Nitro, they always showed reruns of Nitro so that you can get the chance to see what you missed a few hours earlier.

When news of The Elite announcing on their popular YouTube channel “Being The Elite” that All Elite Wrestling was now gonna be an official promotion. I am very excited for this news because this has turned out to be an interesting year in wrestling.

The “All In” independent wrestling event was wildly successful through word of mouth and had even sold out within the first 30 minutes before the event. “All In” was the first non-WWE wrestling event to actually sell out over 10,000 seats in 25 years. Cody and The Young Bucks put their chips on the table by funding the event themselves and their bet paid huge dividends in the end. Also, “All In” was also the prelude to the official announcement of All Elite Wrestling now being an official wrestling promotion.

I see this not only as a good thing for the future of the wrestling business, but in a way as the reincarnation of WCW because 1) New AEW President and Jacksonville Jaguars Co-Owner Tony Khan poured $150 million of his own money to jumpstart the new AEW promotion 2) The Khan Family has a net worth of $6.3 billion which is more than Vince McMahon and Ted Turner 3) Much like WCW was during its peak in the mid-to-late 1990s, All Elite Wrestling will be the true alternative to the absolutely current garbage product of The WWE which is actually true.

With the official jumpstart of AEW, Cody and The Young Bucks are not only creating a new legacy for themselves, but also the millions of fans that have been disgruntled and turned their backs on the current WWE product, and also for the many wrestlers who make a name for themselves in the indie scene and wouldn’t wanna work for WWE because of how vicious and horrible they treat many of their performers on the current main roster.

Back in 1997, The WWE became truly threatened because WCW was absolutely destroying them in the ratings during “The Monday Night Wars” which caused WWE to shift their product to a more edgier and very controversial product called “The Attitude Era” which often had some of the most racist segments like The DX Blackface Incident and plenty of sexist moments like women baring it all in front of fans and being portrayed in some of the most negative ways I’ve ever seen on television.

The WWE has not had a true competitor since WCW closed its doors in 2001 and ever since then, they have their heads so far up their asses nowadays that they are a bunch of glorified hoes to the big money coming from corporate sponsors and from places Saudi Arabia that’s notorious for their misogynistic views about women. They really don’t have any super big stars because the only super big “stars” they currently have are the part-timers like Brock Lesnar and John Cena.

For all the casual fans out there that think that All Elite Wrestling is gonna make an immediate impact this year need to be patient like I am because it takes time for a new wrestling promotion to get up off the ground. It took WCW about a decade to get to the level that WWE was at in the mid-to-late 1990s because WCW offered guaranteed contracts and lesser travel dates which made many guys like Lex Luger and Scott Hall jump ship to WCW.

Note: During their press conference in Jacksonville, Florida, AEW announced that they have signed one of the biggest names in wrestling today in Chris Jericho and they’ve also announced that female wrestlers will be treated equally and get equal pay to what the male wrestlers get. Vince and WWE didn’t care too much for Hangman and PAC joining AEW, but in his mind, Jericho joining AEW was like what Hogan and Savage did to him in 1994 all over again.

The Conclusion - I am definitely gonna be patient because I truly believe in the next 3-5 years, The WWE will become more threatened by AEW which will force them to make changes to the product similar to what WCW did back in the late 1990s.

  1. I'm excited for AEW but I don't want it to be this new version of WCW. For the good that WCW had done, let's not forget that they were the ones that played its own part in its downfall. AEW needs to be something of its own as well as make sure they don't repeat the mistakes of the past. I really want AEW to succeed.

  2. I agree. In a way, it's like WCW in the sense of being something different and I also want AEW to succeed because they're hiring smart people that will make good decisions that will be beneficial to the promotion. Because WWE is clearly intimidated by AEW by banning people who wore AEW shirts at the recent Smackdown Live taping

  3. AEW will definitely be different from the current garbage WWE product that they constantly force and shove down the throats of fans every week which includes the overkill known as three hour Raw
