Sousei no Onmyouji Chapter 48 Review: We Out Here Killing Family

Tenma has to be the most hyped character of all time. He participated in his first tournament at the age of seven and got a draw with Seigen. After that each tournament he beat the other 12 Heavenly Commanders. He was a seat member by the age of 10 and was the youngest to do so. How is this man not the main character. Why are we just now finding out about him. I actually don't like him but he truly does deserve every thing he has right now.

Imagine killing all 9 of your siblings at the young age of 8 or so just to become what he is today. He went through so much pain keeping all of that inside knowing he killed his siblings just to be called the strongest. I still don't like him but he has a wild back story. I don't get why Ikaruga is so obsessed with him. I get wanting to surpass him because he is the strongest but his place in the back story was simply a spectator.

The artwork was dope s always. The fighting though it was cut in half due tot eh backstory, was great. We see Ikaruga get a brief power up, or he finally created new enchanted gear that works not only for his flight and speed but his power as well. If he had this back when he fought in Magano he would have been on equal footing with the antagonist then. This fight went from one sided to a fight worth watching. This will be teh best fight this tournament. Too bad we have to wait a month for the next chapter.

Overall solid chapter. The backstory was great and didn't lag on. It effectively set up why the way and how Tenma got to where he is now without too much exposition losing the reader in the end. We were invested in the story without having to skip pages of dialogue. Ikaruga has become a favorable character of mine though there are more that I enjoy. I rate this chapter a 7/10.
