Poem: She Called Me Baby by Garser Dismuke

Baby? She called me baby.
I’ve never been called baby, not even during sex.
I never had sex.
Okay, I maybe lying but I did get head once on a moon.

It had happened during spanish class and I was shocked. Baaby?!
Why would she call me baby? I’m 20, she maybe 23?! 25?!
This is weird. So weird I grabbed a pen and paper. So weird I went outside
And counted the stars but the sun said “No!!”

I don’t like that word.
My grandmother used to call me that.
Used to. It's not a bad word but a bad word for a 20 year old.
I fear the mamas won’t take me seriously. No more moon on the head.
