Filler Arcs Aren't Always Bad

In Anime some of the long running series will suffer from filler because the anime is catching up to the manga fast. Now filler is usually looked down upon but that doesn't mean filler can't be good. Some series just have shitty filler arcs. Bleach stands as one of the best, if not best, show that has filler. The Filler Arcs The Bount Arc and Shusuke Amagai Arc were pretty good. The Bount Arc follows another species of People similar to Vampires as they consumed human souls and used that to be able to use dolls as their weapons. The arc itself follows the small group of Bounts lead by Jin Kariya as he wants to take revenge on Soul Society for banishing and discriminating against his people. The Arc itself was fine and people enjoyed it a lot as it served as a teaser until the actual continuation of Bleach resumed.

The Shusuke Amagai Arc was another good arc but what made these good was the fact that it focused on characters that we would not normally see in action. Kira's only notable spotlight is in the Amagai Arc as it takes place in his Division. We get to experience exactly who Kira is as a person understanding his abilities. His Wabisuke Zanpackuto was pretty damn cool.

Then you have filler like Sailor Moon Filler. Majority of the original Sailor Moon anime was pure filler but that filler was amazing. If you're a fan of Sailor Moon you would know this as some of the episodes were episodic about things such as relationships, studying, and everything going on in the life of a teenager. Majority of it never had anything to do with the original source material and advancing the story but it did improve our love for the characters.

The Tenchi Muyo series has several side story series that aren't canon to the main story but those series were pretty cool. We got to see our favorite characters in more situations compared to the short Ryo-ohki seasons that were canon. They were fake but they were really cool to see as we waited for more canon material to come. Filler is not a bad thing to happen to a series if handled well. Most series just have trash filler arcs that aren't fun or contain much excitement.
