Even More Image Series To Read

Once again, from the pits of the Underworld, I hath returned to spread the good word that is Image Comics. Tired of superhero comics and looking for some unique and easy to follow narratives? Look no further, your hero (me) is here to help you out. Here are six more great Image Comic series you need to check out, like yesterday. I always like to throw in an extra from a different publisher at the end.

Sex Criminals – Meet Jon the actor and Suzie the librarian. They both share a pretty, um, special ability. Time stops when they orgasm. After sleeping together and realizing they have the same power they decide to rob a bank. A hilarious story full of sex and crime. Written by Matt Fraction and the artwork is done by Chip Zdarksy.

Tokyo Ghost – Los Angeles, 2089 and humanity is plugged in. Addicted to the digital and virtual, technology reigns supreme.  Our two heroes, Debbie and her tech'd up crackhead boyfriend Led Dent are sent to the last tech-less country on Earth, Tokyo, where they have no intention of returning from. Debbie uses this opportunity to try and cure Led of his tech addiction. Written by Rick Remender with the art done by Sean Murphy and colored by Matt Hollingsworth.

Death Vigil – Are you special? If so go ahead and become a Death Knight by joining the Death Vigil, a team tasked with fighting evil and the “Primordial Enemy”. Did I mention you have to be dead to join? All covers, art and writing are done by Stjehan Sejic.

Paper Girls – Written by Brian K Vaughn and illustrated by Cliff Chiang. This narrative follows four 12 year old papergirls who are suddenly visited by some supernatural forces from the future. How will they survive and what is happening?

LOW – The sun has expanded into a red giant thus making the surface of the planet inhabitable and forcing humanity to take refuge under the sea. The remaining few million survivors live under water while the Caine family tries to probe habitable planets for humanity to live on. But something terrible happens and now in the face of true despair, one woman’s hope is the only thing left keeping her going when everything seems so hopeless. Writer, Rick Remender, artists, Greg Tocchini & Dave McCaig.

East of West – Written by Jonathan Hickman and illustrated by Nick Dragotta. The story for this comic is rather complex. This is a sci-fi, dystopian America where the Civil War never ended. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse return to fulfill a prophecy and they happen to be after the life of the US President. Watch the stories of important members of each nation unfold and the journey of Death, who is looking for someone or something important to him (I honestly feel like I explained this poorly but I swear to you it's top tier).

Bonus: Scott Pilgrim - Scott Pilgrim is a 23 year old Canadian slacker who's in a band and in between jobs. After falling in love with a delivery girl he meets, he must defeat all of her seven evil ex-boyfriends in order to date her (in peace). Story and art by Bryan Lee O'Malley. NOT Image, published by Oni Press.
