Before you get your loli panties in a bunch, no I do not think the entirety of Anime is garbage. My favorite Anime is Yu Yu Hakusho, currently Gintama is my favorite and we can not leave out the hype and enjoyment One Punch Man, Prison School and Shokugeki No Soma have bought us. But, I'm not here for that. I'm here to talk about why Anime is currently trash.
So every season has a set amount of new anime that comes out. It usually ranges to about 30 series, a couple movies, shorts and oneshots. Of those 30 series, 20 are going to be enjoyable. Out of the 20, 12 are going to be good but fail or become stale by episode 6. Of those 12 series, only about 4 are going to be great in its entire run whether it be a 12 or 24 episode anime. So out of 30 series and the various movies and side projects, only 4 bodies of work were good throughout and will be remembered. Think about it. Of the 40 plus content that came out in 2015, only 9 of the those series were really talked about among fans that year as well as to this date.
Most Anime that comes out these days already have a popular manga like Boku No Hero, One Punch Man, Shokugeki No Soma while other are are getting spotlight for the first time thanks to the Anime like, Youjo Senki and Sousei No Onmyouji. Then you have Anime that has no hype around it but can be great series. But once these series become anime, two things can happen, Either they go on to become great of fail or in some cases lay in between. One Punch Man and Prison school were great while Sousei No Onmyouji has noticeable differences but then Boku no Hero is good but has its down moments. You never know what you'll get with anime these days because most companies seem to not know what they're doing.
Now a lot of Anime that comes out these days are all bland have nothing special about them, or they are clearly copying another creator's style because it got popular. There was an influx of Magical anime releases in 2014 but all of them were ass. Because of SAO we got another influx of anime about being stuck in a video game. There is no more creativity in Anime. Smaller creator are all biting the big creators just to stay afloat. None of these people are trying to be the next big thing but whatever will make the the most money in a short period. This is why Anime is currently TRASH. Same shit just a different day and loli character.

You don't see very many original anime nowadays because anime studios don't want to spend time on something that might not be popular and instead choose to work on adapting already popular manga and light novels (popular in Japan at least). But yeah, a lot of anime these days just follow the already overdone trope of getting killed and getting reincarnated/transported to a fantasy world

I obviously don't like every genre of anime myself, but that does not mean that anime as a whole is trash. Yes, there are some bad ones out there, but don't let that ruin your view of the medium as a whole. As that is probably one of the most special types of media that Japan, a very civilized country, has to offer, along with manga and light novels, and the games we play.
