Top 10 Songs: Month of July 2016

You know the drill and you know what time it is.

B Free - New Wave
This has to be the chillest song released this year. I felt so relaxed just on the first listen. The beat is creative but sticks to a certain flow to keep you entertained yet also relaxed. Now this version of the single just has B Free's verse and not Double K and Paloalto. B's verse was melodic as it was mellow yet had some punches in it. Just nought to keep you liking the verse but not going overboard because that would ruin the beat. The rest of the Free From Seoul EP is great as well.

Wonder Girls - Why So Lonely
Of course this song would be on the album. Why So Lonely is a chill song, a bop, and a banger. I actually enjoyed Lim's singing here plus a verse from her an Yubin. One of the most balanced groups ever. The harmonizing here was spectacular and the aesthetic vibe in the music video carries over to the song to give it some extra pop. The lyrics are good as well. This song is a masterpiece

Fei - Fantasy
This song screams late night jam. The song as well as the rest of the single is very sensual as it put you in this sexy yet vulnerable state. When I listen to it I imagine myself in a club slowly twerking my life away. Its one of those songs where you wished you had a partner but not really cause you just want them to stare at you while you dance but not wanting them to touch you. Am I the only one who feels this way? Either way the song is really good and enjoyable.

Bewhy - Forever
This has to be one of the best singles this year. Its definitely Top 5 SMTM songs. The song is genius. Bewhy has a certain style to him and his beats always reflect that. Working with Gray for he first time came out to be even better than expected as Gray was able to capture Bewhy in a beat while Bewhy was still being Bewhy. The style of the beat was different than what he's used to but he definitely meshed well with it. Everything about it is genius. Can't take off repeat.

Bewhy - Dayday
I honestly wanted to put the best 10 songs from this season of SMTM but I didn't because that would have been trifling of me. Dayday, like Forever, is a genius performance. The same thing I said about Forever can be said here but Dayday is a more fun and upbeat cute song compared to the latter. Plus Jay Park had a nice feature here. The back up dancers were also amazing.

Jay Park and Ugly Duck - Put Em Up
This EP came out the cut as I was expecting the Everything You Wanted EP to be released this month. Nonetheless it truly is a banger. Put Em Up is my favorite mainly because the beat is extremely dark and heavy and the hu d d d d d part is so fucking addictive. Upon the first listen I laughed at it but the more I listened the more I enjoyed it so much. Maybe even a little too much. The song is really good though.Great for the summer cruising.

Microdot - Talkin Bout
I was surprised here. I thought Jessi would be singing but she actually rapped on this feature and I was a happy camper. Microdot is a very aggressive yet calculated rapper and not many can stand toe to toe with him but Jessi did effortlessly. When Jessi can rap about what she wants without a gimmick, she can deliver some amazing ass verses and this was one of them. This track is groovy as hell tho. "I'm Yours" was a close second from the album for this list though.

Basick - Hunnit
With the release of his upcoming EP, Basick has released a song on Soundcloud each week until August 1. Hunnit is a flashback to the Double Trouble days as Basick and Innovator trade sick rhymes about wanting to be number one and having all the gold. I wasn't expecting to get so hooked on it but the beat is addictive and each rapper has a very catchy and engaging flow. I can tell this is going to be one of my favorite songs on the EP.

Brand New Music - Respect The Name
When I heard about this track and the artist I was extremely hyped. I was a little disappointed that Kiggen wasn't here but the track is bussin regardless. As I'm listening to it everyone has their own style of rap yet they collectively seem to compliment each other. My favorite verse goes to San E because he spilled all the tea. Is it just me or is he coming at B Free, Jerry.K and all of the HipHop message boards? Either way, everyone kills it with their flow, lyrics, and style and it is a catchy track.

Cherry Coke - Trust
After listening to her on Sleeq's song Eiffel from the album Colossus I decided to listen to her music, Trust is one of the 5 songs from her 2015 mixtape Here which you can listen to on Soundcloud. The sample of "Sippin on Some Syrup" by Project Pat caught me off guard as the mixtape is R&B and PP is an old ass American rapper. Nonetheless the beat coupled with her soft voice just resonates with my ears. She deserves the award for Underrates Mixtape of the Year of 2015.
