Let's Talk About The Mandela Effect

Let's Talk About the Mandela Effect

Hello there guys, it's Jaz. I usually talk about cartoons, games, and anime. Today I think it's time we take a look at something strange because I don't see it on here enough. It's kind of something that seriously interests me after a friend blew my mind so let's talk about The Mandela Effect.

What is the Mandela Effect?

Okay so you know how you're convinced that something from your memories is one way. only to have your mind completely blown when you find out in actuality that it's a different way? Okay this is basically where this feeling comes from. The Mandela effect is a conspiracy theory created by Fiona Broome, who is both a writer and a paranormal investigator. She came up with the theory when a friend and her were discussing whether Nelson Mandela had passed away in prison and actually having vivid memories of coverage and reports of his death, only to find that Nelson Mandela was still in fact alive, and more shockingly a lot of people share the same memory of him dying in prison and it being covered while others did not. The Youtuber Penguinz0 is also one of the first YouTube Channels to spread the theory and make it popular. Now this is kind of stepping into the whole parallel universe concept and these "inaccurate" memories are actually real but are just from parallel universes that we were once a part of.

Freaky right? Okay well now I'm going to provide you some examples of this, hopefully one of these will blow your mind a little.

The Berenstain Bears

Now some will say that I spelled this wrong, or that this picture is wrong. I thought that too at first, a lot of people including my self could have sworn that it was pronounced "Berenstein" with a more of an E sound. Okay but if you type it in google and spell it with E it's going to correct you, this is the instance that brought The Mandela Effect to my attention and is the most commonly used example.

Sex and the City

Okay, so I have never watched this show and this isn't as much of a mind blowing as the others on this list, but I do recall hearing about it or seeing it in commercials and myself along with others, always thought of it as "Sex in the City"

Mirror, Mirror: Snow White

So a lot of us have grown up watching Disney movies, I'm sure that there is some VHS copies at your parents home or you satisfied your inner child by buying them on DVD, Whatever the case there is something that a majority of people seem to recall from one of the Disney Movies, Snow White. In the movie there was a quote that many remember. When the Evil Queen talks to the mirror, many of us remember it as "Mirror Mirror on the wall..." well I hate to burst your bubble but if you go back and check the movie, whether its your own copy or on YouTube. The Evil Queen goes "Magic Mirror on the wall..." mind blown yet?
Check on YouTube for yourself here.

Mister Rogers: This Neighborhood

It would seem as though there is a reoccurring theme of childhood memories with this article. So well know the show Mister Roger's Neighborhood. Where's my 90 kids at? Anyways Mister Rogers would always sing a tune while putting on his shoes and getting ready for the day. "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, a beautiful day for a neighbor". Well I hate to break it to you, but he actually says "It's a beautiful day in THIS neighborhood." maybe during our adolescence we simply just remembered it wrong, more worried about the show to begin? Here is the official PBS lyric page with an audio example. I wonder if Mister Rogers really has tattoos or really flipped the camera off before...

Star Wars: Is the Father?
All my Jedi and Sith people, even Star Wars can't escape The Mandela effect. Okay you know the most famous line in Star Wars, the one that has been quoted and used in parodies time and time again.  We all know what comes to mind. That iconic scene with Luke and Darth Vader where we learn about Luke's origin and his connection to Mr. Vader. "LUKE I AM YOUR FATHER, is actually false. Yeah everyone quotes it and says it wrong all the time.God all those parodies, think of the parodies! Anyways, Lord Vader actually says "No, I am your father." Honestly if your a huge Star Wars nerd you probably weren't too shocked by this one (given you watched it 1000 times), but for the more casual fans that have a novice to average understanding of Star Wars its rather shocking, even videos on YouTube, have their video titled "Luke, I am your Father." check some of them out here here.

I hope you guys enjoyed these examples of the Mandela Theory, it was really interesting to research and find examples of this conspiracy. What do you think? Were we just remembering something wrong? Or maybe we are constantly traveling in and out of parallel universes and our memories aren't false? If there are any other really good examples out there, let me know, perhaps a personal experience of some sort? Anyways Jaz out.
