Crush - Crush On You Album Review

Another Edition of Vintage Reviews

Korean R&B artist Crush released his debut album in June of 2014. Up until that point I have been listening to Korean Pop for about 3 years. Crush was the first R&B artist without pop roots that I had listened to. I listened to Hug Me a single from the album which made me listen to Crush but I had no idea what the album had in store for me.

Let me say this right now. This is a straight R&B album. There is no pop whatsoever so it is safe for you non pop fans to listen to it. Through this album Crush is able to establish himself as a future R&B legend. He captures the essence of R&B with his debut album. All 11 songs are an extension of his soul. As it should be. His singing is godly. He has the ability to hit the highest and lowest note with perfection. His signature flow exudes greatness.

I deemed this album R&B album of the year over R. Kelley's album Black Panties. This album is just that good. Crush has features from label mates Dynamic Duo and Zion T as well as YG artist Lydia Paek, and AOMG's Gray, Jay Park, and Simon Dominic. Each song has its own flavor all while still giving you a soulful and jazzy vibe. My favorite song is Annoying. Crush's high notes and the jazz beats provided by Kumapark are a match made in heaven. I honestly don't know what the best song is. Each song is different and it is hard to judge.

Nevertheless the entire album is amazing. If you love R&B this is a must listen to whether you listen to Korean music or not. I give this album a solid 10/10. This may seem high or I'm being biased but I can find nothing wrong with the album and it does exactly what it is supposed to do. get you moving and grooving to the music. It is also a very good debut album. You can find Crush's album on Spotify.
