Angel Beats! is probably the best slice-of-life anime that has action in it, and the second best slice-of-life series right next to the Clannad series. The key elements that this series has are, which I always consider the most important elements in an anime are, action, a little bit of comedy, and most importantly, a storyline. Most anime don't even tell a complete story anymore, but Angel Beats! keeps the flow of the storyline.
Story- 10/10 - There is nothing wrong with this series’ story. Angel Beats! story is not complicated at all, but you do want to pay attention and not skip any episodes at all, or you will get lost. The anime is really funny and action packed, but you will also cry at points.
Art-9/10 - One word-Beautiful. Don't buy this anime on a DVD. Get the Blu-Ray. It might be expensive, but trust me, you won't be upset.
Sound- 7/10 - The sound could be much better. At times, I had to keep raising and lowering the volume every 5 minutes or so. Maybe that was because of the site I was using? I don’t know the specs on the DVD and Blu-Ray, but I think you should be good on this.
Character-10/10 - Maybe I’m being bias, but for the most part, not all of the characters have a deep back story. Only 3 do. And those are the 3 main characters. I know I'll give away spoilers, but Otonashi, Yuri, and Hinata have the most back-story. The other characters are more supporting except for Angel. All these characters are likable. I guarantee you might hate one or two, but will also love them at the same time. Without giving away their backstories, they will make you cry and make you feel for them. Even thinking about it right now makes me tear up. No judging!
Enjoyment- 9/10 - I really enjoyed this anime a lot. I don't know if you guys will, but I really did. For a 13 episode series, it did not feel rushed at all. It was a well-put story, that, for even being short, managed to do what most series forget to nowadays, TELL A COMPLETE SERIES!
Overall- 9/10 - Angel Beats! is a must watch. If you like slice-of-life anime and action anime, this is the perfect anime combination for you. At points you will cry, and at other points you will want, or hate most characters. But most importantly, you will love the action that Angel Beats! has to offer.
